Why repeating sequences make learning new games easier

I found a great read on why our minds seek out familiar patterns in games: https://theinscribermag.com/why-our-brains-want-familiar-patterns-in-games/. From my perspective, familiarity reduces cognitive load, letting me focus on experimentation and strategy instead of rules. Even small repeated sequences can evoke nostalgia, increase satisfaction, and encourage longer play sessions, which explains why some games feel “just right” without being flashy or overly complicated.
